Hope you had a wonderful summer! We have some exciting information to share with you on the first day of school…
What’s new at FNS?
1) ONLINE MEAL APPLICATIONS. Boston Public Schools now has an online Meal Application for FREE and REDUCED PRICED MEALS available on the Boston Public Schools Website! If you/your child is attending a Provision 2 school, you will not need to fill out a meal application this year and will automatically receive free lunch this year. Wondering if your school is on this list? Check here.
For all other students, please fill out an online meal application. Meal applications will soon be available in Cape Verdean, Chinese, Haitian-Creole, Portuguese, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese. Check out Boston Public Schools website for more details.
2) FREE BREAKFAST for ALL BPS STUDENTS. Yes, that’s right, FREE BREAKFAST for ALL BPS STUDENTS this year! No matter what school you/your child is attending this year BPS is offering free breakfast at all sites. We want every student to have the opportunity to start the day off right with a healthy meal!
3) USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is back! MA Department of Early and Secondary Education has awarded BPS a total of $791,640 for 27 schools across the city. Participating schools will receive additional servings of fresh fruits and vegetables above and beyond the school breakfast and lunch program. Some of the items served last year include clementines, persimmons, pineapples, and much more! We are looking forward to bringing a wide variety of produce to our FFVP schools again this year.
Hope to see you in the cafeteria this year!
